The Role
The PDS Technical Support Engineer is a surveyor that plays an integral role in the success of Teledyne’s Engineering Services department, is a highly motivated, skilled, quality minded and well-organized individual, who will fulfil a technical role in supporting (dredge) customers, in the office, as well as in the field. You will be able to convey complex technical problems in correspondence or face-to-face meetings and document field visits and support queries. This role allows you to gain an in-depth understanding of the multifaceted PDS software platform, operation thereof, and the complete hydrographic measurement chain.
The Candidates we are seeking will be involved in commissioning primarily dredge monitoring solutions by providing dimensional controls and system calibrations. In addition, you will assist in the same way with hydrographic survey installations dealing with our multibeam products and liaise with stakeholders to ensure successful completion of set to work and mobilisation services. These services, and training on PDS applications, will be required to be executed locally and internationally, during the week and occasionally through the weekends. Furthermore, a stand-by service is a responsibility shared with the team allowing continuation of support to our customers in cases of emergency.

Responsibilities
- Timely Email- and telephone- support to customers.
- Support R&D team in processing reported PDS issues and requests.
- Perform installation, dimensional control, configuration, calibration on newly installed dredge monitoring systems.
- Create reports on Fields Services, with detailed information.
- Perform classroom training on PDS applications.
- Provide input on PDS manuals.
- Ensure excellent customer support.
- Ensure quick and professional advice.
- Be a good ambassador for our company with all customer-facing service activities.
Professional Competencies
- Education in Surveying, or Ocean Technology, with good flair for mechanics.
- Driver’s License.
- Basic Computer skills for using Microsoft packages.
- Understanding of relevant health & safety regulations
- 5 years of experience using hydrographic survey software, PDS or similar.
- Be familiar with customer support, via telephone, email and in person.
- Be fluent in Dutch and English, both written and oral
- Be comfortable with technical communication in reading, writing and verbally.
- Experienced in troubleshooting/diagnostics of complex matters and technical problems, involving electronics, mechanics, and software.
- A plus if you have experience in using a Total Station.
- Work in an effective and efficient manner and you get things done.
- Flexibility is expected, working extended hours when required.
- Focus on quality in everything you do.
- As a person you are a team player, focused on achieving your goals, also when it is tough.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, using own initiative, prioritizing tasks.
- Excellent communication and people skills, a cooperative approach.

- Well organized, Self-Motivated
- Physically fit (some lifting required, working on excavators, cranes, and hoppers)
- Working at heights is not an issue.
